C.P. Group Hosts “Sustainability Dialogue for A Better Tomorrow” — Uniting All Sectors to Shape the Future and Drive Tangible Change

31 July 2025

On 31 July 2025, at True Digital Academy, 7th Floor, Charoen Pokphand Group held the event “Sustainability Dialogue for A Better Tomorrow,” one of the key highlights of GCNT Expo 2025. The forum served as a platform to gather perspectives from stakeholders and communicate the Group’s ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) progress with transparency and depth. It aimed to reflect the Group’s ongoing journey toward its 2030 Sustainable Development Goals while opening space for all sectors to offer recommendations, build synergy, and guide future operations. The discussion spanned the environmental, social, economic, and governance dimensions, with participation from leading organizations across the public sector, private sector, civil society, academia, and the media — including the Thailand Institute of Bioeconomy Development (Public Organization), UNICEF Thailand, Thaksin University, Mae Fah Luang Foundation under Royal Patronage, Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth), Chulalongkorn University, Faculty of Public Health at Mahidol University, Kasetsart University, the Moral Promotion Center (Public Organization), Prachachat Business, Nation Group, Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning (ONEP), PwC Thailand, and the Thai Institute of Directors (IOD).

Dr. Teerapon Tanomsakyut, Chief Sustainability and Strategy Officer of Charoen Pokphand Group, delivered a special lecture titled “The New Chapter of C.P. Group’s Sustainability Strategy,” presenting the Group’s vision and new strategic direction for sustainability.

Dr. Teerapon stated that creating this listening platform was highly important, as it provided a valuable opportunity for the Group to hear feedback from all sectors — input that would contribute to enhancing its operations and advancing toward its sustainability goals in a concrete and measurable way.

In the past, sustainability may have been viewed as the responsibility of a single department within the organization. Today, however, that perspective is no longer valid. Sustainability must now be a shared responsibility of everyone within the organization.

For this reason, C.P. Group has integrated its sustainability division into the corporate strategy function to ensure that sustainability principles and business strategy progress together, in full alignment.

However, the effort to achieve these goals cannot be pursued in isolation. The Group operates within a vast value chain involving numerous stakeholders — particularly in the agricultural sector, where farmers account for 80–90% of Scope 3 emissions. Expecting them to reduce their carbon footprints without fully understanding the context or language used would be difficult. Therefore, the Group is committed to clear, practical, and accessible communication and collaboration.

Today, the Group has more than 450,000 employees across 23 countries worldwide, as well as a large network of suppliers. This represents a collective force capable of creating meaningful social and environmental impact.

When examining the gap between current progress and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), it was found that last year global progress stood at just 17%, and this year at 18%. If this pace continues, by 2030 only 23% of the goals will be achieved — far below target. This underscores the urgency to focus on three key factors: “people,” who must actively engage; “technology and innovation,” as accelerators of change; and “collaboration throughout the value chain,” which must become more robust and cohesive.

Under the vision of becoming a “Technology & Innovation Conglomerate,” Mr. Suphachai Chearavanont, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Group, has laid out a clear sustainability strategy. Its aim is not only to provide “food for the body,” but also to deliver “knowledge for the mind,” while conducting business in compliance with local laws, the UN Guiding Principles, and the SDGs — alongside the principles of the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy and the CP Excellence System.

The Group also emphasizes measurement of economic, social, and environmental outcomes, using three core KPIs: Living Right — focusing on governance and human rights; Living Well — focused on health and education; and Living Together — focused on environmental and community harmony.

“We wholeheartedly welcome your opinions, suggestions, and expectations. If there is anything we haven’t done well enough or could improve, I truly believe that your voices will be invaluable in helping the Group grow. I hope your collaboration will help us close the existing gaps, and that your input will help refine our targets to make them even more ambitious and appropriate,” Dr. Teerapon said.

The Group has already established five-year targets running through to 2030. Some of those targets have already been fully achieved, making this a timely opportunity to review, improve, and elevate goals to higher levels. The Group is also working to align its goals with international standards, ensuring they are globally recognized. In terms of Sustainable Product, Service & Brand, the Group is accelerating the development of environmentally friendly products and services that are truly sustainable.

In terms of environmental progress, solar panels have been installed on all rooftops of owned properties. Clean energy projects such as biomass and biogas are also underway. While clean energy currently accounts for 17% of usage, it represents a meaningful starting point. The Group is also developing “low-carbon” rice in conjunction with the Thai Sarus Crane Conservation Project — a new benchmark for food safety indicators.

On education and technology, C.P. Group provides free access to test banks and online learning through the True Plookpanya platform, with lessons delivered by national-level tutors. It also supports technology and startups through True Digital Park and is preparing to launch a Biotech & AI Lab this September to enhance the global competitiveness of Thai startups.

In the areas of human rights and health, the Group continues to conduct audits and provide reinforcement. It has also launched the “MorDee” application, offering online medical consultations and medication delivery to users’ homes.

The Group’s 2030 sustainability goals — now entering their fifth year — are currently being revised to become more challenging. Input from all sectors is being welcomed to raise the Group’s standards to international levels, particularly in the development of environmentally sustainable products and brands.

“We hope today’s event will be the beginning of collaborative momentum across all sectors, to build a truly sustainable future together.”

Following the keynote, participants took part in focused group discussions held in three breakout rooms, each addressing one of the following dimensions: environment, society, and economy/governance. At the end of the session, representatives from each group came together to summarize, share, and integrate their proposals — helping to shape the Group’s sustainability strategy in a practical and actionable way.

The “Sustainability Dialogue for A Better Tomorrow” marks another milestone that reflects Charoen Pokphand Group’s commitment to inclusive dialogue, cross-sector collaboration, and building a better tomorrow — sustainably.
