Due to overexploitation and irresponsible fishing around "Ao Na Thong" or Na Thong Bay, Baan Koh Petch, Hua-sai, Nakhon Si Thammarat, marine resources had been severely depleted, causing local fishers to either switch their jobs or move out of the community to find new jobs.

In order to solve these problems, people in the Baan Koh Petch community gathered and formed the “Hua-sai Local Fishery Association” aiming to protect and rehabilitate marine and coastal resources in their areas. Their activities include crab bank implementation, creating an artificial reef, Fish Aggregating Devices (FADs), etc. Later on, CP's Community Relations Team joined hands with the Baan Koh Petch’s fishing community and the association to run conservation and rehabilitation projects as well as conducting R&D projects on re-used Fish Aggregating Devices (FADs)" as a way to improve fisheries production and sustainable conservation.
