According to the UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) in 2020, Thailand has a 12.16 percent proportion of lower secondary school children out of the education system, ranking fourth in ASEAN. The statistics from the Equitable Education Fund (EEF) also found that there were 431,364 out-of-school children in Thailand and over 800,000 children are at risk of dropping out as they need to economically support their families to earn incomes. Consequently, children and youth lack access to education and skills development to pursue a career with a stable income. This situation affects their quality of life, as well as future employment and learning opportunities.

454 out-of-school and underprivileged children in Mae Hong Son, Yala, Nakhon Nayok and Bangkok provinces received continuous education with support on ICT, improved reading skills and learning achievements. For example, in Yala province, Non-Formal National Examination Test results have risen from 75th to 49th place in the country (April 2021), with children receiving the highest scholarships by reading on an average of 23 hours per month.
