27 September 2023

September 27, 2023: Charoen Pokphand Group was announced to be included in the Lufthansa Group’s Climate Supporter. The CO2 emissions resulting from the journey of employees of C.P. Group have been offset with Sustainable Aviation Fuel (AVF) on flights operated by Airlines under Lufthansa Group, including Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Lufthansa, and SWISS. In total, C.P. Group can compensate for CO2 emissions amount of 1,966 kilograms from business travel activity which is our indirect GHG emissions (Scope 3). This reflects C.P. Group’s commitment to becoming a Net Zero Emissions Organization by 2050 that encompasses our whole value chain, including all indirect emissions (Scope 3 Emissions) that are not owned or controlled by a company. Offsetting CO2 emissions from flights offers several benefits, both for C.P. Group, flight operator, as well as for the environment and society as a whole. The benefits include but are not limited to, emissions reductions: this helps reduce amounts of CO2 being released into the atmosphere which effectively mitigates the environmental impact of air travel; biodiversity conservation: offsetting contributes to the conservation of ecosystems and the protection of biodiversity; clean energy adoption: increasing the demand for sustainable fuel and Carbon offsetting can accelerate the transition to cleaner energy sources; contribution to C.P. Group’s Climate Resilience goal: the offsetting helps to limit GHG emissions from employees’ business travels, as well as making their activities more carbon-neutral; and promotion of rights to clean air: offsetting GHG emissions and acceleration of clean energy can increase access to sustainable livelihoods.

C.P. Group is honored to play a part in the carbon supporter list of Lufthansa Group, and we are committed to supporting our activities along the value chain, including our employees, that contribute to overall GHG emissions reduction, in order for C.P. Group to successfully achieve that goal of becoming a Net Zero Emissions Organization by 2050 and the global goal of limiting global temperature rise well below 1.5 degree Celsius.
