Bangkok, March 9, 2018 – Charoen Pokphand (CP) Group and True Group forge ahead with the continuation of the Thailand’s first dharma reality TV program and unveil 12 novice monk candidates in the “Novice Monks Cultivate Dharma Wisdom Year 7”. This year, the TV program will be expanded on a regional scale with the Plookpanya Dharma on tour, visiting northeastern Thailand for the first time at Wat Pah Saingam in Ubon Ratchathani, headed by the Abbot Master Phrakhru Nikrotthammaphon (Luang Ta Anek Yasadinno). Under this year’s theme of “Compassion”, the TV program aims to cultivate knowledge with virtues among the youngsters. Upon entering the monkhood, the novices will learn to “give” people unconditional loves, “learn” and practice dharma principles as well as “be perseverant” to stay focus on the present and meditate to reach the goal of being a “giver” with compassion. The intention of CP and True Groups is to present the stories of these young boys on the 7th “Novice Monks Cultivate Dharma Wisdom” TV program as a good example for the society and inspire the audiences to lead lives under Buddhist principles. This year, CP and True Groups will take 12 novice monks who were selected from more than 4,500 applicants nationwide back to the natural way of life and participate in the Plookpanya Dharma on tour to the northeast for the first time. This year’s program is organized in remembrance of and as a merit making for HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej, and a graceful tribute to His Holiness Somdet Phra Ariyavongsagatanana, the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand, as well as to HM King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun on the occasion of his 66th Birthday Anniversary on July 28, 2018 and to HM Queen Sirikit in King Rama IX on the occasion of her 86th Birthday Anniversary on August 12, 2018. The objective of this TV program is to cultivate good deeds, virtues and ethics among the young generation. This year, the 12 novice monks will be brought to Wat Pah Saingam in Ubon Ratchathani province to study and practice the Lord Buddha’s teachings under the supervision of the Abbot Master Phrakhru Nikrotthammaphon (Luang Ta Anek Yasadinno). They will learn Dharma under the theme “Compassion” (Universal Love), starting from unconditionally “giving loves” to others, “learn” to practice dharma principles, as well as “be perseverant” in maintaining the focus of their mind and meditate with the present to reach the goal of being a “giver” with compassion. The objective of the program is to set good examples and inspire Thai youths and the public to learn more about dharma principles and how to apply them in their everyday lives.”
In addition, it is a great honor for CP and True Groups that, HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn has bestowed a set of monk’s robes for the preceptor in the Novice Monks Cultivate Dharma Wisdom Year 7’s ordination ceremony, which will be held on April 8, 2018.
