Charoen Pokphand Group supports 20 young Thai delegates to participate at the One Young World Summit 2017 in Bogotá, Colombia

Charoen Pokphand Group (C.P. Group) will send 20 young Thai delegates from Thailand to participate in the One Young World Summit 2017 during 4-7 October 2017 in in Bogotá, Colombia that included representatives from ‘Luukrieang’ group to share their experiences under the theme ‘Peace & Reconciliation’.

C.P. Group, under the ‘Just Believe in Your Dreams’ initiative, sponsored a total of 20 young leaders, 15 from its business units and 5 external, as representatives of Thailand to the international forum attended by over 1,400 people from 194 countries worldwide.

Furthermore, the C.P. Group gave youths from the southern part of Thailand called the ‘Luukrieang’ group or Children Association and Youth for Peace in Deep South, who were affected by violence in their hometowns the opportunity to participate in the summit. They shared their life experiences as well as promoted peace and reconciliation through the message of ‘love and forgiveness’, a key theme of this year’s summit.

Supachai Chearavanont, Chief Executive Officer, Charoen Pokphand Group / Chairman of the Executive Committee, True Corporation Plc., stated that Charoen Pokphand Group is proud to initiate the project “Just Believe in Your Dreams” for young leaders from Thailand to participate in the One Young World Summit 2017. The group has supported the project for three consecutive years, aimed at fulfilling their dreams to bring about a better change to society and the world. As one of the supporters of the One Young World Summit 2017, in Bogotá, Colombia, C.P. Group had chosen 20 Thai young leaders to participate in the summit, with 15 of them from business units in the group and the remaining 5 from the outside. They will get a chance to join a global platform to combine the power of the new generation to bring about constructive change and sustainability to the world and the Thai society.

“One Young World is a global summit for young leaders. It expects to have over 1,300 global and young leaders from 190 countries worldwide to attend the event. Beyond the Olympic Games, there isn’t any forum to gather young delegates in such a big number from countries like this. They will use this platform to exchange their ideas in order to seek solution from the global problems in 5 dimensions, which include 1. Poverty, 2. Education, 3. Peace & Reconciliation, 4. Leadership & Government and 5. Environment. 20 delegates from Thailand will attend as well to exchange experience and ideas over current global issues with young leaders from worldwide in order to seek solutions. C.P. Group is confident that inspiration from the summit and a creative power they gain will help bring a better change to the world’s future, which will cope with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 17. This is in line with C.P. Group as well, which is committed to promoting the sustainable development in both business itself and Thai society. Especially youth rights and peace promotion, love and forgiveness, Charoen Pokphand Group gives a chance to delegates from three provinces in the deep southern part of Thailand, or “Luukrieang” group, hit by violence in their hometowns, to share their perspective on peace promotion with love and forgiveness, as one of the five topics at the summit”.

Before their departure, 20 youth leaders will receive training to boost their potential and vision through idea exchange over issues with experts at C.P. Leadership Institute in order to widen their global viewpoint and prepare themselves to participate in the One Young World Summit 2017.

One Young World Summit 2017 will take place during 4-7 October 2017 in Bogotá, Colombia. This will be the first One Young World Summit held in South America with global leaders participating such as Noble prize winner Professor Muhammad Yunus, and Mr. Kofi Anan, the former UN Secretary General and other international thought leaders from the public, private, academia and civil society sectors. Currently, there are over 8,000 young people worldwide in the One Young World network with 8.5 million people benefiting from projects initiated by One Young World Ambassadors.
