September 28, 2017 - Three of CP Group’s Thai-listed subsidiaries, Charoen Pokphand Foods PLC (CPF), C.P. All Public Co Ltd (CP All) and True Corporation Public Company Ltd (True), were admitted to the 2017 Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) Emerging Markets. Their inclusion in the index reflects the importance CP Group places on being an economically, socially and environmentally sustainable business and is in line with CP Group’s recently launched 2020 Sustainability Goals.
This represents the first time that three major subsidiaries of CP Group have been included together in the index and reaffirms the company’s ongoing commitment to drive sustainable development in all of its business units. CPF has been selected as a member of the DJSI for the third consecutive year and scored above the industry average in all areas - economic, social and environmental. CP All is listed as one of the five largest additions ranked by floated adjusted market capitalization while True is the only Thai telecommunications business selected in the DJSI Emerging Markets.
Mr. Suphachai Chearavanont, Chief Executive Officer of CP Group said: “As a company, we have always embraced the “Three-Benefit Principle”, dedicating ourselves to the countries we invest in, local communities we work with and then our own company and employees. We are determined to find new ways to ensure that our businesses are working together to maximise the positive impact we can have as a group and this is reflected in our admission into the DJSI Emerging Markets. We appreciate the DJSI’s recognition of CP All, True and CP Foods’ efforts in this area and our long-term commitment to playing our role in ensuring a sustainable future.”
Mr. Chearavanont continued: “We express our gratitude to all CP Group’s employees, executives, business and government partners, suppliers, civil society stakeholders and customers who continue to support CP Group on this journey. Through all aspects of our business operations, CP Group aims to be a catalyst for positive change both within CP Group’s business and society.”
Launched in 1999 jointly by S&P Dow Jones Indices and RobecoSAM, DJSI is an annual index that tracks and benchmarks sustainable business practices for leading global companies in terms of economic, environmental and social criteria to inform investment decisions. On an annual basis, DJSI invites over 3,900 listed companies between 80-120 industry-specific questions focusing on economic, environmental and social factors that are relevant to the companies’ success.
